Leading Japanese sleep tech company and UK AI and care-tech company collaborate to revolutionise the sleep and wellbeing of the UKs ageing population

PRESS RELEASE 3RD JANUARY 2024

London, UK: Today OXLABS, an AI and care-tech company on a mission to improve the quality of life for the elderly in Britain, announced their strategic partnership with NTT PARAVITA, a leading Japanese technology company that provides healthcare services aimed at improving essential sleep.

NTT PARAVITA is a joint venture between NTT West, a division of one of the largest telecoms companies in the world, and Paramount Bed, which boasts the top market share in Japan for medical beds and under-mattress sleep sensors.

OXLABS is developing HABITA™, the world’s most advanced in-room wellness monitoring system using the next generation of AI to improve the wellbeing of the elderly and support pre-symptomatic detection of disease.

The partnership aligns the mission of both companies to utilise groundbreaking technology to address sleep issues in local communities which are closely linked with conditions such as cardiac problems, dementia, and diabetes. According to the Sleep Foundation, between 40% and 70% of older adults have chronic sleep issues and up to half of cases may be undiagnosed. The first product the partnership will bring the UK will be NTT PARAVITA’s under-mattress sleep sensor product which is already well established in Japan.

“We are delighted to partner with such a well-established and trusted Japanese company as NTT PARAVITA. With one of the oldest populations in the world, Japan has advanced expertise for addressing sleep challenges in the UK. We believe the combination of our HABITA solution and NTT PARAVITA’s sleep sensor represents an effective and much needed offering for the UK market”

CEO of OXLABS, Katrina Douglas

OXLABS was part of the first Healthy Ageing Accelerator delivered by The National Innovation Centre for Ageing (NICA). This helped cultivate a culture of international expansion within the company and influenced the go-to-marketing strategy.  In full support of the partnership NICA said;

“There is a radical need for innovation in ageing and longevity. Our work with OXLABS reflects our strategy of supporting both companies and the whole industry to develop intelligence centred on data and people’s desires by integrating those innovations – process or technological – that accelerate the development of solutions for our healthy longevity. These innovations matter to a global audience, which is why we have been active from the start in supporting OXLABS journey to help make their solution a reference”.

Director of UK’s National Innovation Centre for Ageing, Nic Palmarini

The partnership welcomes the opportunity to work with innovative retirement homes in the UK to trial the under-mattress sleep monitor. The company is also in a seed investment round, if you are interested in the investment opportunity please contact [email protected]
